Forensic Psychiatry

Forensic Psychiatry is a subspecialty of Psychiatry that addresses the interface between law and psychiatry. A Forensic Psychiatrist provides services to the Attorney, the Court, or Finder of Fact to help informed decision making. 

Dr. Kan is Board-Certified in Forensic Psychiatry. He has provided forensic consultations in Civil, Criminal, and Administrative matters. He has been retained by Courts, Plaintiff, Prosecution, Petitioners, Respondent, and Defense attorneys. He been retained by California State Regulatory agencies.

Dr. Kan has been qualified as an expert witness in the following areas:

A forensic evaluation employs in-depth interview techniques of clinical psychiatry, but also relies upon collateral sources of information. The forensic evaluation is different from a treatment evaluation because the evaluator's duty is to provide a fact-based opinion and not to treat individual being evaluated.

Dr. Kan will provide a free 30 minute initial consultation to attorneys.

Fees range between $550-850/hour depending upon the matter (Criminal/Civil/Administrative/Family Law)
